About Alloy 718 API

Alloy 718 was initially developed for the aerospace industry and is considered the material of choice for many aircraft engine applications.

Its excellent strength and corrosion resistance have been recognized by the oil industry and it is now widely used in this field.

Alloy 718 (UNS N07718) is an extremely versatile precipitation-hardening, Ni-base alloy with excellent strength and good ductility up to 1300° F (704° C). These characteristics, combined with good weldability, good formability, and excellent cryogenic properties account for the popularity of this alloy.

Typical applications in the oil industry are gate valves, choke stems, fasteners, tubing hangers and fire safe valves. In the aerospace and power generation industries this grade is also used for gas turbines, aircraft engines, fasteners and other high strength applications.

Applications
  • Oil and gas - components for valves, fasteners, hangers and other high strength applications
